Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) Cognitive Therapy Training Program
The Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) Cognitive Therapy Training Program of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research is a specially designed, individualized program with weekly phone supervision for six months, or every-other-week phone supervision for one year. Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree and be employed at a Community Mental Health Center. Through this program, clinicians obtain in-depth feedback and guidance on the application of cognitive therapy to their particular setting. Phone supervision includes:

Attention to the trainees' individual goals
Conceptualization of the patient
Treatment planning
Instruction on specific techniques and interventions
Generalization of skills learned to other cases
Other clinical issues, as requested

This program is less rigorous than our Extramural Training Program, since we recognize that CMHC staff may not be able to provide weekly audiotapes/CDs for phone supervision sessions. Although it is beneficial if trainees can provide tapes or CDs, supervision can be modified if therapy tapes/CDs are not available. The CMHC program also includes two on-site workshops in Philadelphia. For details and workshop dates, please see the Extramural Program description. A certificate stating Community Mental Health Center (CMHC) Cognitive Therapy Training Program participation will be issued upon satisfactory completion of this program.

Tuition for the six month weekly program and the year long every-other-week program is $4,050. Tuition fees are only refundable in special circumstances. A $300 deposit is due upon signing the contract. Tuition is payable in two installments by check or credit card (MasterCard or Visa). Applicants who apply online will be able to submit credit card payments through our secure online system. A quarterly payment plan may be available in special circumstances. Trainees are responsible for the expenses of express mail delivery of weekly audiotapes/CDs (if applicable), and phone calls for supervision.
